At the National Census of 2006, its population was 9,584 in 2,707 households.
There were 8,867 inhabitants in 2,800 households at the following census of 2011.
At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 9,462 in 3,228 households. The largest of its 52 villages was
Kalayeh Bon, with 1,409 people.
After the 2016 census, Chehel Shahid and
Jennat Rudbar Rural Districts were separated from the
Central District into the new Dalkhani District,
with the new city of
Dalkhani (formerly Galesh Mahalleh)
as its capital.
